Blue apron

Have you guys heard of Blue Apron?? I'm a little late to the game as I've been hearing friends and fellow bloggers raving about it for some time now, but B and I were thrilled to finally try it. The adorable Hilari was gracious enough to gift three meals to us through an Instagram contest, and I could not wait to try it.

If you're anything like me, these days it's tough to find time to meal plan and then grocery shop. We get stuck in a rut of making the same things over and over again {or worse, just picking up take-out!}. So basically Blue Apron's motto is fresh ingredients and great recipes delivered to your home weekly for $9.99 a person. You can customize your menu based on dietary restrictions too. They take all the work out of it, and you just have fun preparing a fabulous meal and indulging in it. We immediately signed up and the next week our box arrived!

Everything you need already measured out for three amazing meals.

We opted not to do the vegetarian menu even though I don't eat meat because this week's menu was so appealing.
I do eat seafood and love shrimp and could easily omit the chicken and meatballs from my portion the other two nights.
First meal we tried was the Shrimp Quinoa "Fried Rice".
It was so fun preparing it together.
We treated it like a date night in!
These shrimp were so tasty!
The verdict?
Hands down our new favorite meal!
We will absolutely be making this again in the near future.

All in all, we were very impressed with Blue Apron and look forward to making more of their meals. I will say it takes a little planning as all of the meals we prepared were done after we put the boys down. They are not exactly "quick and easy" meals, but we enjoyed the time together in the kitchen and loved preparing the food together. I would highly recommend this for a date night in or a fun night in with friends.

Anyone else out there tried Blue Apron? What are your thoughts??

  1. We loved Blue Apron too, but I totally agree that the meals aren't so "easy" to prepare, even though the prep work is all done. The meals we had in our box were some of the fanciest things I've ever made!

  2. Oh I know! I loved that it pushed me to try recipes I normally would not cook, but it certainly took some time. :)
