Scenes from the weekend...

A much needed girls night, pregnancy cravings, biscuit breakfast with my boys, birthday celebrations, naps and gorgeous weather certainly resulted in the perfect weekend. Cheers to a wonderful week friends!

Boys will be boys

As a boy mom, I can only imagine what's in store for me down the road as it relates to G's shenanigans at school. I have visions of lots of practical jokes, injuries and such resulting in calls to mom or parent/teacher conferences {ah, a girl can dream}. However, right now I'll just relish in the time we have with our sweet little one. Wrong. We have been dealing with b-i-t-i-n-g and luckily he's only had one incident at school {fortunate for them, not me as I'm usually the recipient of said chomping at home}. So when I picked G up the other day and asked his teacher, Miss Ebie, how he was, her sheepish grin gave him away. I quickly asked, "Did he b-i-t-e someone??" The sheepish grin got bigger, and she responded {she has the sweetest accent I wish you could hear}, "No...George...he like eh the girls. He chase eh the girls. When he capture them, he lay on them." Oh lovely! A lady killer already...The kicker is the whole time Miss Ebie is telling me this, G is listening and then looks at me and just laughs. Love my little man!

The best salad ever...really!

Oh my goodness this salad is so good.  Seriously.  You know when you've been eating a little too many french fries and one too many donuts {speaking from experience} and you just crave something green, crisp and fresh.  This will do the trick!  And so easy too.

Ingredients:

  • Spring mix lettuce
  • Broccoli {finely chopped}
  • Can of artichoke hearts {rinsed, quartered and chopped}
  • Jar of capers
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Ramen noodles {uncooked}
  • Champagne vinaigrette

Directions:

Mix all together and enjoy!

Scenes from the weekend...

Happy Monday friends! We enjoyed another laid back weekend {aren't they just the best?}. B got some incredible news from work so we celebrated Friday night. What says celebration more than Mexican with our little man and crayons? Saturday we lounged as the snow came down, but then B and I said night-night to the little guy and went out for an adults-only night {thankful for a new darling babysitter!}. I think I have discovered my new favorite Nashville restaurant. Amazing! More lounging, baking and playing on Sunday. Oh and I'm happy to report "Operation no more ba-bas" was a success! G loves his new sippy cups, and I only caved at night with the ba-ba {he had a fever...what's a mom to do!}. Here's hoping his love for sip-sips continues.

TGIF

Thank the lord it's Friday!  This day started off a little rough.  Did not beat them up this morning and was running around like a mad woman because I have no clothes.  My regular clothes don't fit and my maternity clothes are too big and everything that does work is at the cleaners.  Why can't I just wear yoga pants to work??  So of course we were crazy late, and when I got G to school I was trying to quickly get him signed in.  They have to wash their hands when they arrive, and he loves to play with the water.  Me being frustrated at how late I was tried to rush him through and of course he slipped off the step stool and busted his lip on the sink.  Instant blood and tears {from both of us}.  In that moment I realized nothing else mattered {i.e. being to work on time} so I went and held my baby and wiped his tears.  We got him an ice pack, and I was able to fight back my tears once my little man lit up at the sight of breakfast {he is a bottomless pit}.  I got him situated at the table, and he was smiling and laughing with his friends.  I felt okay leaving knowing he would be fine, but of course the whole walk to the car I was beating myself up that I took my frustration with myself out on him.  Let's just say there was no need to put on makeup this morning because as soon as I got in my car, I was sobbing!  I know there will be many more busted lips and definitely some skinned knees and bruised elbows along the way.  In the meantime though, I'm going to continue reading this.  Happy Friday friends!

Pinspired: Easter centerpiece

Today is the last day of February {thank goodness!}, and I am so ready for March.  The beginning of Spring, warmer weather {fingers crossed} and one of my favorite holidays, Easter.  We will be in Dallas for Easter, so I wasn't planning on decorating too much.  However when I saw these arrangements popping up all over Pinterest, I was pinspired if you will.

Thanks to two bags of Starburst jellybeans, a package of Peeps and some lovely {and cheap!} tulips from Trader Joe's, I think my pinspiration worked.

Just be sure to put your flowers in another vase inside the larger vase so they will last.
Happy decorating!
